A new video provides a concise but thorough breakdown of the forces that turned trucking from a source of solid middle class jobs to the state we’re currently in, where long hours, low wages, and little respect for truck drivers result in high driver turnover rates.
The video was shared this week by Cheddar News and it has already been viewed more than 73,000 times.
The video zeroes in on how trucking was drastically changed by the Motor Carrier Act of 1980, and looks at how those changes have had a negative impact on the way that truck drivers live, work, and get paid more than 40 years later.
