The Kansas Corporation Commission voted to change rest requirements in order to get truckers back on the road more quickly.

On March 27, 2015, the FMCSA announced the agency has granted a partial HOS exemption to McKee Foods Transportation, LLC (MFT).

The $4 million study will examine the "impacts of restart restart breaks on commercial truck drivers’ safety performance and fatigue levels.

The American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA) has filed for a exemption from the 14-hour rule.

"It is illegal for an employer to retaliate against employees who report work-related safety concerns or violations of federal transportation regulations, which require drivers to have a minimum 10-hour rest period between shifts," said Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA Dr. David Michaels. "OSHA is committed to protecting workers from retaliation for exercising basic worker rights."

On Friday, the FMCSA announced that the agency has granted a temporary HOS exemption to Illumination Fireworks, LLC and ACE Pyro, LLC.

Members of the Senate Appropriations Committee today voted 21-9 to suspend the restart rule that took effect on June 30, 2013.

“The study acknowledges that the two or more night restart periods result in more trucks on the road during the day, but it does not address the corresponding safety or congestion impacts,” Osiecki said.

The driver responsible for a crash that left an Illinois Tollway worker dead and an Illinois state trooper severely injured was in violation of HOS.

The FMCSA stated that the, third-party study provided "further scientific evidence that the restart provision in the current hours-of-service rule for truck drivers is more effective at combatting fatigue than the prior version."

The FMCSA Southern Service Center issued emergency exemptions for drivers hauling heating fuel.
