Truck Driver Thwarts Robbery With Pepper Spray

Published:

Truck Driver Pepper Sprays Robber On Thursday morning, a truck driver was delivering fuel to a Mobil gas station, in the 7200 block of Ritchie Highway in Maryland, when Jerry Piercy, 52, approached the driver from behind and demanded his money.

Piercy implied that he had a handgun.

The truck driver complied with the man’s demands and handed over his money.  Piercy then demanded the driver hand over more cash.

The driver got into his truck, but instead of giving the man more cash, he gave the man a face full of pepper spray.

The 53-year-old truck driver was then able to subdue Piercy until police arrived.

Piercy was arrested and charged with multiple counts of armed robbery, first and second degree assault, theft and reckless endangerment.

Prior to robbing the truck driver, Piercy had attempted to rob the Mobile gas station, but a customer interrupted the robbery attempt.
