Houston Tow Truck Driver Helps Police Catch Burglar

Published:

According to Houston police, the watchful eye of a tow truck driver and an alert neighbor lead to the arrest of a man who broke in the door of a woman’s home this morning.

The incident occurred near Highway 225 near the 610 loop at about 3:15 a.m.

A witness in a neighboring home saw a man kick in the front door of the home of an elderly woman (who fortunately, was not home at the time of the incident), and called 911. In the meantime, the suspect became startled, ran to his vehicle, and fled the scene.

As the suspect was speeding away, the driver or a wrecker heard the call over the police radio, and was able to spot the suspect’s vehicle. The driver followed the suspect and lead police towards him until the man jumped from his vehicle and tried to flee on foot.

The Houston police were able to nab the suspect, and he has been taken into custody.

He currently faces charges of burglary of a residence, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
