Judge Sides With Trucker Blacklisted For Refusing To Drive On Pain Meds

Published:

A federal judge sided with a former trucker who refused to drive while on pain medication in a case against New Prime Inc.

The judge ordered New Prime Inc., which is part of Prime Inc., to pay the former driver nearly $20,000 for back pay and damages after the driver was fired in 2008.

The judge also ruled that New Prime Inc. had violated federal law when it included misleading information on the driver’s DAC report.

The case came about after the driver injured his back on the job and was prescribed pain medication in 2008. He did not get a doctor’s clearance to drive a truck until July of 2009.
