Tanker Truck Flips, Killing Truck Driver

Published:

A truck driver in Rowan County, North Carolina, lost his life this morning when a tanker truck carrying 6000 gallons of ethanol flipped over on Bringle Ferry Road.

Driver Trapped Inside Truck

On scene reports said that the driver was trapped inside his truck, but rescue crews could not get close enough to rescue him because of the fire hazard.

The tanker truck reportedly left a fueling terminal and ran off the road, overturning onto the driver’s side.

Haz Mat Crews Respond to Accident

Three or four homes were evacuated after the accident.

Bringle Ferry Road has been closed since 6:45 a.m. There is no word yet on when the road will reopen.

Officials now say that the scene is relatively safe, but HazMat crews will spend all day cleaning up.
