Werner Founder And First Driver Stepping Down From CEO Position

Werner Enterprises announced today that the company’s founder and first truck driver would be stepping down from his role as the company’s CEO.

Clarence L. Werner, 78, will step down as a CEO but will remain as Executive Chairman of Werner.

President and COO Derek J. Leathers will take Werner’s position as the company’s CEO. He has been with Werner for 17 years.

The company also announced that Marty Nordlund will be promoted to Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Jim S. Schelble was also promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer.
