Georgia Police Shoot Semi Truck Thief After Multi-County Chase

Chase Begins When Police Spot Stolen Semi

The incident began just before 4 p.m. when officers from the Treutlen County Sheriff’s Office spotted a semi that had been reported stolen traveling east on I-16.

The officers attempted to pull the truck over, but the driver refused to comply.

More officers joined in as the pursuit crossed over into Emanuel County.

Police were able to use stop sticks to bring the truck to a halt around mile marker 92.

Several Shots Fired At Suspect After Pursuit Halts

The driver of the truck reportedly displayed a firearm. Police responded by firing several shots at the truck.

The suspect was hit by gunfire and airlifted to the hospital for treatment. The suspect is expected to survive.

No other injuries were reported.

I-16 eastbound was shut down for hours last night for the investigation into the incident.
