Video of a Cleveland police officer’s questionable driving on I-90 has gone viral this week.
The video was filmed by truck driver Joe Gerhart on September 7. Gerhart filmed the video with his phone as he was eastbound on I-90 heading towards the downtown Cleveland area.
Gerhart wrote, “This is one of the reasons why people think #ClevelandCops are a$$holes. This f*cker did this on I90 from the on ramp of w117th all the way to the I490 split. Everyone needs to share this.”
Gerhart says that in addition to straddling the two lanes, the officer was also traveling 10 miles below the posted speed limit of 60 m.p.h.
“I see people do kind of stupid stuff all the time, but I just don’t see why that was necessary for him to do that for no apparent reason. There was nothing in the road, there were no obstructions. He didn’t have his lights on so it was just like, ‘Wow, I can’t believe he’s really doing this’,” Gerhart told Fox 8.
Cleveland police said that the officer in the video was en route to a crash scene and that he was straddling two lanes in order to slow traffic.
Since Gerhart posted the video on Monday, it has been viewed more than 250,000 times.
