Wrong way pickup driver sends semi slamming into house

Police say that the pickup driver is being investigated for DUI.

Semi Hits House

Police in Washington state say that a pickup truck driver is to blame for sending a semi truck crashing into a home early this morning.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. on Friday, April 5, in Spanaway, Washington.

Authorities say that a pickup truck driver was traveling the wrong way on Spanaway Loop Road when it crashed into a northbound semi truck. The impact of the crash sent the semi truck off of the road and crashing into a nearby house as well as two cars in the driveway. The pickup was then hit by another vehicle.

The two homeowners were inside their bedroom just a few feet from where the semi truck came to a stop. Neither person was hurt.

Both the pickup driver and the semi truck driver suffered only minor injuries in the crash.

The pickup driver is being investigated for suspected DUI.

Gary Sanders with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department told KOMO News that “The truck is completely merged into their home. If it had been 6 feet to the left, they both could have been killed. So, it’s very unfortunate and just goes to show what impaired driving does.”
