Driver pinned by own rig in furniture warehouse accident

Published:

A truck driver sustained critical injuries after his rig accidentally rolled, pinning him between the door and a metal pole.

The accident happened at around 7 a.m. on Monday, October 11th in Hackensack, New Jersey.

According to The Daily Voice, the 52-year-old truck driver was at a furniture warehouse on McKinley Street, where he parked on a slight slope. The driver then got out of the rig, but the truck rolled, pinning the man between the driver’s side door and a bollard pole.

Some workers at the scene witnessed what happened and called 911 while another hopped in the truck to move it away from the pinned driver. Those workers helped responding police officers stabilize the driver before he was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.

It is not clear whether the driver forgot to set the brake or the brakes failed.
