Trucker caught with $1.5 MILLION in cash, guns, concealed in ‘false compartment’

Texas police seized more than a million dollars in cash along with multiple firearms following a traffic stop in Brooks County this week.

On November 17, 2021, just after 7:00 a.m., a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper pulled over a tractor trailer traveling on southbound U.S. Highway 281 for a traffic violation.

According to a news release from Texas DPS, “During the traffic stop, the Trooper discovered 56 bundles of U.S. currency totaling $1,530,067 and two handguns which were concealed in a false compartment within the semi-trailer.”

The truck driver, 43 year old Dallas resident Miguel Martinez-Navarro, was placed under arrest on money laundering charges and booked into the Brooks County Jail.
