Trucker’s dead body discovery under investigation

Published:

Police are investigating a series of potentially related events after a dead body was found on the side of a Utah highway.

The incident occurred late on Tuesday night, November 9th in Millard County, Utah.

According to KJZZ, Utah Highway Patrol was called to a crash on Interstate 15 at milepost 170 and discovered a car stuck in the median they described as having “very little damage but it was stuck in the mud.”

A short time later, police received another call, this time from a trucker, reporting a body lying on the shoulder of I-15 just south of the car stuck in the mud. Police were able to identify the body, an unnamed woman, as the registered owner of the abandoned car.

Investigators initially reported that a man had left the scene of the crash, but that detail has not been confirmed, reported ABC 4.

The details surrounding the crash and deceased female are not clear, but it should be noted that, prior to the discovery of the body, UHP had released a warning about a man walking along I-15 and potentially looking to hitchhike. By Wednesday afternoon, the UHP announced that it was no longer on the lookout for the man, but did not provide further details.

It is not clear if the search for the man and the discovered body are related.

The State Bureau of Investigation is asking anyone who had been traveling along I-15 in Millard County that may have information about the case to come forward. You can reach SBI at 801-965-4747. If you call after hours, you are asked to leave a message.
