Nebraska troopers call out Peterbilt driver for triple digit speed limit violation

Published:

The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) recently took to Twitter to call out a trucker for speeding over 100 m.p.h.

In a Tweet issued on March 5, 2023, NSP Troop E shared an image of a truck driver’s eyebrow-raising speed caught on a radar speed gun with the caption:

“Will a Peterbuilt [sic] actually do 101mph? Yep ….. Trp Gibbins (#NSP130) found one that will today. Seriously folks ….. #SlowDown!!! Speed is a contributing factor in many crashes as well as the severity of these same crashes. #BeSafe, #SlowDown, and #BuckleUp!!!

While some Twitter users asked NSP how much the ticket would be, others were unimpressed with the Peterbilt’s feat of speed.

“All in the rear gearing. My 2001 would top at 115 mph. Past about 95, the wind resistance takes over & it takes quite awhile to get to those speeds. Had a 550 Cat, 18spd & 3.25 gears. & yes, the motor wasn’t governed. I know this cuz I put a 120 speedo in it,” said one user.

“101 really is not that fast,” another said.
