Police seek oversized load driver who struck Pennsylvania Turnpike toll booth, fled scene

Published:

Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are asking for public help in locating a CMV driver who did not stop after striking and damaging a Turnpike tollbooth this week.

According to a PSP accident report, the incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, on PA Turnpike 66 in Hempfield Township.

PSP says that a white truck (unknown model) hauling a trailer loaded with a bulldozer that was marked as an Oversized Load was southbound on PA Turnpike 66 when it “went through lane 2 and struck all of the black barriers at the start of the lane with its bulldozer blade.”

The truck “then got through the lane and struck into the concrete wall and also hit the camera APPIAN assembly and light curtain.”

The truck driver “then backed up a total of four times inside the tollbooth lane to get unstuck [then] it continued to travel south on PA Turnpike Toll 66. Also there was a white pickup truck, unknown make model registration that was a safety flagger traveling behind the oversized load.”

PSP is asking anyone with information to call 724-755-9463.
