Fatal Truck Crash On New Jersey Turnpike

Published:

On Wednesday, in the early morning hours, a 2007 Freightliner, driven by Joseph Gaudio, 67, of Ashboro, North Carolina, struck a guardrail along the New Jersey Turnpike.  The truck then flipped onto its right side, skidded along the highway, then struck a support column of an overpass and flipped over onto its left side.  The truck then burst into flames.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m., near mile marker 45, near Burlington County.

Joseph Gaudio was able to exit the truck safely.  Sadly, Joseph’s wife, Glenda Gaudio, 67, was asleep in the bunk and died at the scene.

Guadio was transported to Holly Hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities suspect dense fog likely contributed to the crash.
