The FMCSA and OSHA today announced the agencies have signed an agreement to "to strengthen the coordination and cooperation between the agencies regarding the anti-retaliation provision of the Surface Transportation Assistance Act (STAA). The Memorandum allows for the exchange of safety, coercion and retaliation allegations, when received by one agency, that fall under the authority of the other."

The FMCSA’s Safe Haven rule is perhaps one of the FMCSA’s most misunderstood and misquoted rules. Drivers often assume the rule applies to safe and available parking, but that’s not always the case.

The proposed rule would prohibit motor carriers, shippers, receivers and transportation intermediaries from threatening drivers with the loss of work or other economic opportunities for refusing to operate in violation of federal regulations.

On Monday, May 12, the FMCSA will publish clarification and guidance on its proposed electronic logging device regulation.

The FMCSA today announced the agency has submitted a report to congress that states the "current financial responsibility minimums for the commercial motor vehicle industry are inadequate to meet the costs of some crashes."

Beginning May 21, 2014, all driver medical examinations must be performed by a doctor on the FMCSA's Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.

OOIDA has asked the FMCSA to extend the deadline for the Certified Medical Examiner Registry requirement.
